Egerton FC: An Inclusive
Approach Egerton
FC continues to
expand and the
pitch project is now complete. The 3G pitch is open, providing a
stunning facility for the area. The much improved car park makes
parking much easier and safe, and the club house offers expanded changing facilities and a proper bar area. This season the club
will host 22 teams from U8 to U17, plus open age and vets teams,
approximately 400 registered youth and adult participants, 100 Saturday Club
members, at least 50 adult helpers (managers, referees, trainers and
assistants) and a team of experienced paid staff (coaches, site manager and
admin staff). Macclesfield Town FC now train at Egerton together with their Centre of Excellence, confirming the quality
of our facilities. There are many reasons to be optimistic, but we need to hold
a consistent approach and we need to be ambitious in the interests of our
children's desire to improve. FA charter status was
achieved in 2007, an important development for Egerton. It means that the FA
agrees that the club has met its best practice standard for training and
development of young players, together with child protection. It allows the
club to apply for grants from the FA (for example for the new facilities), but
also means we are one of the few accredited clubs in the area. Parents can be
confident that their children are getting the best guidance in football in the
area. Egerton now has a full time development officer for the
first time. Egerton’s philosophy is
to provide teams for all standards and to encourage children to play
competitive football for fun in an inclusive way. All teams are provided with
trained coaches to allow the players to develop to their potential, but always
ensuring that the game is played in the right spirit. We like to win, but it is
more important that the kids enjoy themselves! | |||||
